Arginine is an amino acid derived from the fermentation and purification of vegetable carbohydrates (sugar cane). It is a relatively large molecule and consequently its penetration through the stratum corneum is slow, preventing any kind of irritation. When used in combination with lactic acid it has all the benefits and properties of Alpha Hydroxy Acids (exfoliating properties, increases cell turnover, improves skin firmness, reduces hyperpigmentation, etc.), but without the itching, stinging, or burning sensation.
